Kuwait - Al-Ali's proposals Old cars confiscated

(MENAFN - Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Abdel Fattah Al-Ali has submitted two proposals to the ministry to cope with the phenomenon of recklessness and punish stuntmen which is one of the major causes of traffic deaths on Kuwait's roads, reports Al-Rai daily



According to security sources the first proposal calls for impounding and pressing vehicles from reckless motorists and those caught doing stunts on roads and the second proposal calls for impounding such vehicles for a period longer than the current stipulated time provided it does not exceed three month



Old cars confiscated: A traffic campaign was launched in Shuwaikh Industrial area and Shuwaikh Port during which 415 citations against various traffic violations were issued, 36 cars and 40 heavy vehicles were seized and 48 number plates of old model cars were withdrawn. Head of Traffic Patrol Department of Capital Governorate Lt Colonel Meshal Al- Hajraf, his deputy Major Raed Al-Sulaiman and Deputy Director General for Capital and Jahra Affairs at Kuwait Municipality Mohammad Al-Hurais headed the campaign under the guidance of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali. Traffic sector confirmed that such campaigns under the guidance of Major General Al-Ali will be held round the clock in all areas to limit traffic violations and control traffic accident
