(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan, Khaled Tharwat, on Monday denied as totally unfounded reports that Egypt has alerted Jordan that it is halting natural gas supplies to Jordan and terminating the contract between the two countries because of energy pressures in Egypt.



Such reports are baseless and unfounded and those who disseminate such news seek to undermine the relationship between the two countries, Tharwat said, according to the Jordanian news agency Petr



He added that Egypt will stand by Jordan in the current hard economic conditions it is going throug



He said the cuts in the gas supplies in the past were a result of a spate of attacks on the pipeline in the Sinai Peninsula and technical problems
