Dubai Schools Football Cup Off To A Flying Start


(MENAFNEditorial) Dubai, UAE – 19 January 2014 – The Dubai Schools Football Cup (DSFC) 2014, having successfully kicked off on 11th January, continues into its second week with more excitement and anticipation as teams compete for the highest rankings in their groups setting them in good standing for the quarterfinals.



The Dubai Schools Football Cup was launched in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and Inspiratus, providing school children between the ages of 12-16 from all across Dubai the opportunity to participate for free in this exciting tournament which takes place on the world class grounds of Dubai Sports City



The second week of competition played host to some remarkable competition with stellar performances from Winchester Jebel Ali Boys' U12, Lycée Français George Pompidou Girls U16, and Westminster School Boys U15. And although they are the youngest players this year, Al Hudaibia Girls U13 played with the biggest heart giving their opponents at Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein School a run for their money



Crowds of fans, friends and family came to cheer their favorite teams this week. Fans were treated to a special premiere of the DSFCs title song "Get Your Game On" written especially for this tournament.



Off the pitches 300 contestants took drop shots on a Chevrolet Silverado's flatbed as part of the exciting activities running each week and sponsored this week by Chevrolet and other sponsors over the next 6 week



Impressively both first prize and second prize winners were from our U16 girls group, first prize going to the goalie from Lycee Francais George Pompidou and second prize going to the striker from Westminster School's. First prize winner received an original signed photo of Manchester United's striker Robin Van Persie



Dima striker for Westminster School's Girls U16 team won the second place prize, an official Manchester United Champion's Wall Calendar. "It was really cool to shoot on the Silverado's flatbed. At the Dubai Schools Football Cup it's such a great atmosphere," said Dima



One of the main objectives of DSFC is to bring people together and provide a safe space for children from different schools to make new friends, and that's exactly what's happening. Now in its second week, friendships are forged as players meet up between matches while enjoying the fun games at Chevrolet, and healthy food provided by the DSFC's health and wellness partner, Fait Maison Cuisine



This week also saw the start of the Shoot Your Way to Old Trafford Promotion, for Chevrolet Impala, Traverse and Silverado. For adults only, contestants test drive a car and enter a penalty shootout, this competition is running every Saturday through to February 15, 2014. First prize for the promotion is two all expenses paid trips to the UK to watch a Manchester United match and attend a full day training at Old Trafford
