US Consumer Prices Up 0.3 per cent in December


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Consumer prices in the United States rose 0.3 per cent in December as an increase in energy costs offset declines in other areas, the Bureau of Labour Statistics reported Thursday.



The price of gasoline and other energy sources rose 2.1 per cent last month, reversing the downward trend of the month befor



The food index rose slightly in November, although the cost of food consumed at home remained static, and vegetable and fruit prices fel



There were declines in airline fares and prices of used cars and truck



The 12-month increase in core inflation, which excludes food and energy, remained at 1.7 per cent for the fourth month in a row
