(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A UAE national man was sentenced to 10 years in jail by the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday for having forcible sex with a compatriot woman against her will after he promised to marry her

The incident was reported last September by the 24-year-old Emirati woman. She called the police and said she received a WhatsApp message after which the 29 year old compatriot accused, whom she did not know before, phoned her but told her "I'm sorry I dialed a wrong number"

The phone conversation developed to a relation between the pair. The accused used to call her often and one day, he told her that he was willing to marry her

A while later, the woman called the accused and informed him that somebody had come to propose to her

The man asked her to come to meet him right away to discuss the matter. They met at the Global Village. He asked to get into his car, which she did believing that he was inviting her to speak to her in private in the car, but he told her that they would drive for a while to be away from people and speak freely. He offered to drive her back

He then drove off to the Dubai-Al Ain highway. When the victim enquired about the place where they had been going, he said he would take her to see his family farm

He stopped the car in a dark place and started groping her. He overpowered and stripped her and had sex with her till she lost consciousness. She said she could not resist him because he was too strong and since she had pain in both shoulders

When she gained her consciousness, she found herself bleeding. The defendant took her to a hospital which treated her. The woman did not report the hospital or the police about the occurrence believing the promise made by the accused that he would marry her

However, three days later, the man failed to keep his word and started evading her. That was when the victim decided to call the police

The man called her and her mother several times later and asked them to withdraw the police complain
