Wholesale prices in Japan up 1.3 percent
(MENAFN) The Bank of Japan (BOJ) said that wholesale prices in Japan went up 1.3 percent last year due to the yen's weakening, Xinhua reported
The central bank said in a preliminary report said that corporate goods' index of prices came at 101.9 versus 2010 base of 100
Prices of petroleum and coal products increased 8.8 percent from a year earlier, while electricity, gas and water bills increased 8.4 percent on higher import costs as the yen depreciated about 20 percent from a year before
Lumber and wood products prices climbed 8.7 percent as a result of increased housing starts in both Japan and the United States
