(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Lenovo has launched Vibe Z in the UAE, the most advanced handset the company ever produced, with a starting price of Dh1,999.

The ultra-sleek smartphone will be available at all power retailers across the country next month

Unveiled to media late Tuesday, the stylish razor-thin, blazing-fast Vibe Z smartphone is equipped with gesture controls, photo enhancement software and other premium technologies, and is Lenovo's first smartphone that makes use of 4G/LTE capabilities

"The Lenovo Vibe smartphones are designed to cater to intuitive and trendy users, who demand stylish, fast and sleek smartphones to stay connected, share picture perfect photos and enjoy multimedia videos and gaming on full HD screens," Lenovo Middle East and Africa vice president Oliver Ebel said at the launch

"With the expansion of our Smartphone portfolio, Lenovo continues to diversify its business and build a strong foundation for the future in the PC Plus era," Ebel added

According to IDC Q3FY13, Lenovo, in a short period, has become the world's third largest smartphone supplier, rapidly expanding shipments 78 per cent year-over-year. This is a testament to Lenovo's rapid ongoing transformation into a PC Plus company, Ebel said. Lenovo is the largest PC maker worldwide and an emerging PC Plus leader serving customers in more than 160 countries

The svelte Vibe Z comes encased in a thin 7.9mm silver or titanium body weighing just 147 grams with laser-etched, fabric-feel rear cover that is comfortable to hold and its 5.5-inch full high definition IPS wide angle viewing touchscreen display. With its custom imaging software and high resolution cameras, the Vibe Z surpasses the shutterbug features of other smartphones. It has a 13MP rear camera with a large f1.8 aperture lens to defy low light situations and capture breathtaking photos and a 5MP front camera that's equipped with an 84-degree lens for wide-angle shots

The Vibe Z complements the existing portfolio of Lenovo smartphones including the Vibe X, which was launched last month in the UAE. The Lenovo Vibe X smartphone comes encased in style with a premium polycarbonate body and an advanced mold, laser-engraved 3D tactile finish. Its slim, featherweight frame continues its focus on premium design by measuring just 6.9mm, as thin as a pencil, and it weighs in at less than other smartphones its size - just 121 grams. The Vibe X is available now at all major retailers in the UAE, retailing at Dh1,699
