(MENAFN - Arab News) Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed a resolution unanimously urging the federal government to focus on Pakistani expatriate workers in the Kingdom
The lawmakers discussed the issue of Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia on Friday in the wake of the measures taken by the Kingdom to streamline the labor market
Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convener in the Kingdom, Fawad Choudhry, whose party is heading the coalition government in the province, told Arab News that more measures have to be taken by the Pakistani authorities to address the issue of Pakistani workers who have failed to legalize their status due to various reasons
The issue was raised by Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentarian Mohammad Ali, who represents Upper Dir, saying that thousands of Pakistani laborers are employed in Saudi Arabia.
He said that a large number of these expats belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The MPA demanded that the federal government should take notice of the plight of overseas Pakistanis, who left the country and families for job but are in distress
Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Sirajul Haq said the provincial government will take up the issue of province's workers in Kingdom with the federal government in Islamabad, reports said
