(MENAFN - Arab News) Twelve teams of firefighters and rescue teams managed to contain a fire in a warehouse in southern Jeddah on Tuesday
After receiving a report of the fire, the Civil Defense sent 10 firefighting and two support and paramedic teams to the warehouse containing the burning plastic, scrap and gift items
Three firefighting teams attacked the fire from three directions using water and foam. Another four teams used coolants to protect the nearby warehouses from catching fire.
The teams created a support area with more heavy equipment and water tanks from the National Water Company to help fight the inferno.
After dousing the fire, the firefighters pumped water into vulnerable areas inside the building. The fire was controlled in record time with no damage to the nearby warehouses. The warehouse is on an area of 3,000 sqm
Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman for the Makkah Civil Defense, said that Col. Salim Al-Mutairfi, director of Jeddah Civil Defense, was present at the scene. In addition, Col. Saud Al-Shanbari, chief of the investigation division, was present to supervise the damage control team. "There were no injuries or fatalities," he said.
The last fire in the warehouse area in southern Jeddah took place about four and a half months ago
