Oman Public Health Society reviews its achievements

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Professionals from the public health sector recently gathered to review the accomplishments of the Oman Public Health Society (OPHS) in 2013 and discuss its strategic five-year plan during its recent General Assembly meeting.

Dr Yahya al Farsi, chairman, OPHS was quoted in a press release as saying, 'Despite OPHS' limited membership, numerous activities on public health were organised including the first National Public Health Symposium held last year in April, four Green Tea sessions (a lecture series on different public health topics) and a Round Table Discussion on health financing.'

'These achievements were only possible because of the active involvement and support from the Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman Arab Bank as well as individuals from various sectors in Oman,' he said during the meeting.

He also said that in addition to the planned events, that OPHS was invited to participate in several activities both inside and outside the country.

The strategic plan for OPHS includes activities to build the capacity of its membership base such as an annual symposium, accredited courses to be held in collaboration with national partners and other opportunities to network and share experiences, the release added.
