(MENAFN) The Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) has handled 4.68 million tons of incoming and outgoing containers in 2013, registering a strong growth in container traffic, according to Arab News
The volume of foodstuffs handled reached 12.68 million tons, while construction materials were about 10.22 million tons and barley imports stood at 3.8 million tons, said Sahir Tahlawi, director general of the JIP
Tahlawi said: "The JIP is still maintaining the prestige and competitiveness in the global shipping market, as a result of its ability to receive a growing number of all types of ships from all over the world, and handling all kinds of goods for export and import.
