Oman discusses water security at meets in Cairo, Kuwait


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, is taking part in the first consultative meeting of the third Arab Water Forum which began in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday.


The meeting aims at studying the Arab strategy on water security issues to face future challenges and requirements for sustainable development.


The strategy aims to adopt integrated water policies to ensure water for different sectors to achieve development goals.


It will also review the recommendations of the second Arab Water Forum. The forum will conclude on Wednesday


Also, the sultanate, represented by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW), is taking part in the extraordinary meeting of the Undersecretaries of Electricity and Water in GCC, in Kuwait.


The sultanate's delegation to the meeting is being led by Mohammed bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi, chairman, PAEW.


It discusses the progress in the water linkage project and reviews the decision of the GCC Supreme Council in its 34th Summit.


It aims at implementing the decision of the Supreme Council and studies other alternatives for the water linkage project.
