(MENAFN - Arab News) The Pakistani community in the Kingdom saluted Aitazaz Hassan Bangash, a 15-year-old student from Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for the sterling example of gallantry and patriotism he set by sacrificing his life to stop a suicide bombe

According to reports Aitazaz was on his way to school when a stranger asked him about the location of the schoo

Aitazaz and his friends became suspicious and increasingly alarmed as the bomber hurried on ahead toward the school's entrance resulting in an incident in which Aitazaz lost his life but not without saving hundreds of students' lives inside the school firs

Describing him as a "national hero" the Pakistani community hailed Aitazaz's supreme sacrifice on Sunday

Hassan Jawed, a senior chemical engineer working in Riyadh, hailed the act as a "supreme sacrifice" saying it saved many innocent lives of school children

Adnan Majeed, another Pakistani national in the Kingdom working as a senior operation in-charge told Arab News, "As a Pakistani, this is a proud moment for us when a school boy as young as 15 sacrifices his life for hundreds of fellow student

The suicide bomber was going to perform an act of cowardice and take the lives of innocent children for no reason except to inflict violence."

Naeem Jameel, another Pakistani national, suggested that the authorities could rename the school after Aitazaz and officially declare him as a martyr

Paying a rich tribute to the teenager, the government of Pakistan has declared that it will confer the Sitara-e-Shujaat on Aitazaz, a high civilian award for braver

The Express Tribune, a Pakistani daily quoted the father of the young boy as saying, "My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children." Malala Yousafzai, the young girl who survived being shot in the head by the Taleban for advocating for girls' right to education, also paid tributes to the school boy tweeting, "I feel proud that I belong to a country where many brave and courageous people like Aitazaz Hassan are born.

Malala called on the government to bestow the highest civilian award on him

Social networking sites are also full of praise for the teenage hero

A condolence message on twitter by Thaakat Foundation read, "Aitazaz Hassan Bangash, thank you for your # bravery and # courag

May you rest in peace.
