(MENAFN - Arab News) Nearly 32 percent of the Abqaiq General Hospital work has been completed, said Tariq Muhammad Hamid, director of the hospital.
He said the project work is going on as planned since it was begun in February 2012.
He said that more than 700 workers and engineers are working on the project on a regular basis.
An official at the Project Management Department of the Ministry of Health said the hospital is spread on an area measuring 11,000 sq. meters and is expected to cost a total of SR134 million.
The building consists of a ground floor and two floors with a capacity of 100 beds. The ground floor is for therapeutic sections such as outpatient clinics, physiotherapy, dialysis and emergency room. In addition, there will be laboratory and radiology sections.
There will also be an obstetrics and gynecology section on the first floor and premature babies' special care unit on the second floor.
There will be such facilities as pharmacy, sterilization room, laundry room, kitchen, warehouse and non-administrative departments such as management, medical library, medical records, hypnosis department for men, women and children, intensive care unit and six major and minor operation rooms.
"After finishing the project, the old hospital that consists of one ground floor only, will be converted into a services building and management building, " he said.
