Major Saudi health groups to win innovation awards


(MENAFN- Arab News) The annual Arab Health Exhibition and Congress, the second largest health care event in the world and the largest in the Middle East, has shortlisted major health firms from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait for innovation and achievement awards.



All these were chosen from more than 150 nominees who have excelled in the region's health care sector



The awards consist of seven categories including Roche excellence in laboratory, excellence in radiology, excellence in surgery services, excellence in patient centered care, Cleveland Clinic young clinician, Young surgeon of the year and outstanding contribution of an Individual to the Middle East Healthcare Industry, which will be announced during the event on January 28 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center



The awards are a fundamental part of the health care industry's mission to inspire a passion for learning about health innovation and technology.



Takhassusi Hospital from Saudi Arabia is shortlisted in excellence in radiology award category.



Al-Ain Hospital from UAE and Hamad Medical Corporation from Qatar also short listed in this category



Jeddah-based Saudi German Hospital and Takhassusi Hospital are listed in

Excellence in surgery services award category. Institute of Surgery of Hamad Medical Corporation was also shortlisted in this category



King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center from Saudi Arabia has been listed in Roche excellence in Laboratory Award. Clemenceau Medical Center from Kuwait and Proficiency Central Laboratories from the UAE are other nominees in the list



Cancer Transformation Team of Hamad Medical Corporation, Clemenceau Medical Center from Kuwait and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City from the UAE are shortlisted in excellence in patient centered care award category



Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, organizers of Arab Health Exhibition &

Congress, said three well-known medics from Qatar have been short listed for Cleveland Clinic young clinician award.



They are: Dr. Ibrahim M Fawzy Hassan, Weill Cornell Medical College; Dr.Magdi Hassan Osman, Hamad General Hospital and Dr. Tariq O. Abbas of Hamad General Hospital



Dr. Hasan Alshemari of Zain Hospital from Kuwait; Dr. Khaled Abuhaleeqa of Mafraq Hospital from UAE and Dr. Samer Sawalhi of Dubai Health Authority are shortlisted for the young surgeon of the Year Award



Last year, Dr. Mariam Al Selami of King Faisal Specialist Hospital had won the young surgeon of the year Award. Jeddah based Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital was the winner of Roche excellence in laboratory award last year



More than 18 medical firms from Saudi Arabia will participate this year's Arab Health Exhibition & Congress. The major participants include Saudi German Hospitals Group, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group, Council of Health Services, Alshifa Medical Syringes Manufacturing, Crescent Diagnostics, Jamjoom Medical Industries, Saudi Food & Drug Authority and United Medical Industries
