Vietnam's 2013 pepper exports hit 134,000 tons, bring USD900m


(MENAFN) Vietnam remained the leading pepper exporter and producer in the world last year, exporting a total of 134,000 tons for USD900 million, Xinhua reported



The country's General Statistics Office said that the figure represents a 14.9 percent increase in volume and a 13.4 percent increase in value when compared to pepper exports in 2012



The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam said that during the January-November period of last year 24,900 tons of pepper were sold to the United States, its top importer, bringing a total of USD176.9 million, and soaring 60.6 percent and 60.8 percent in volume and value respectively



Vietnam's pepper export, which reaches to more than 80 countries, is key to regulate pepper circulation and stabilize its prices in the world, the ministry said
