Oman Gas Company organises blood donation drive for staff, contractors


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Oman Gas Company (OGC) recently organised a blood donation drive at its head office in Al Khuwayr. The initiative witnessed the enthusiastic participation of employees and contractors.


Commenting on this humanitarian initiative, Dr Tantawi, from the Blood Bank, said, ''Blood donation is one of the easiest and positive ways that a healthy individual can save lives. Blood is needed for treating blood disorders, road traffic accident victims, and various cancers. It is the duty of all healthy individuals to donate blood. I would like to commend OGC for its contribution to the well-being of the community, and I would like to thank everyone who participated in this noble initiative.''


A donor at the camp said, ''Blood donation is indeed the best donation. It is a fulfilling experience, and gives me a feeling that I am saving a life somewhere.'' It is worth noting that OGC, fully owned by Oman Oil Company, is the principle gas transportation company in Oman and is responsible for delivering natural gas to the economic sectors and major consumers, comprising of domestic, power and desalination plants, fertiliser, methanol, petrochemical, refineries, steel and cement plants.


Since its inception in 2000, OGC has grown in stature and reputation into an integrated enterprise harnessing the power of Oman's natural gas transportation. The company employs about 333 people, of whom 95 per cent are Omanis. The company's gas pipeline network is spread across the country with more than 2500 kilometres of high pressure transmission pipelines and ancillary facilities covering Fahoud, Muscat, and Sohar in the north and from Saih Rawl to Salalah in the south of Oman.
