Sri Lanka gains USD1b through bond issue


(MENAFN) Sri Lanka announced that it had gained USD1 billion through a sovereign bond issue regardless of the International Monetary Fund warning against increasing its foreign borrowing, The Peninsula Qatar reported



The country's central bank said the five-year bond, at an annual six percent yield, was more than three times oversubscribed within hours of opening on Monday



The bank said that 62 percent of the total bonds were purchased by investors from the US and, while European investors formed 26 percent of the total and Asian investors made up the rest
