UAE -Missing schizophrenia patient found in Deira

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  A schizophrenic patient, who went missing last week, has been found, thanks to the posters handed out by his family.

Adeel Haq, 30, had gone missing on New Year's eve, after a trip to a public washroom near the Filli Cafe in Al Mamzar. After a week-long search, he was spotted sitting on a bench at Union Square on Tuesday morning

The family is grateful to the three people who located him, even though the picture on the posters they handed out does not look like Adeel anymore. He was found by a Filipino lady and two Indian men. They stayed with Adeel till the family drove anxiously from Sharjah in the pouring rain to collect their missing son. Adeel's father, Afzal Haq, said he is grateful for the heart shown by his son's temporary caretakers, who fed him a burger and gave him something to drink

Khaleej Times had reported about the family's search for Adeel on Monday

"The last eight days have been a nightmare," Afzal Haq said. He said his son looks fine, and is back to the safety of his home. Adeel has, he estimated, lost between five and eight kg. His whereabouts last week, however, still remains a mystery for his family. Haq said he has no idea what his son had eaten or where he slept

Adeel lives in Sharjah with his parents, four brothers and a sister. After getting news that Adeel had been spotted, Haq rushed to Dubai in one car with one son, while another son followed in a second car. The rain, and the ensuing traffic and confusion took a toll on his nerves

Adeel's parents are clueless about what happened, as Adeel has not said a word since his return. The entire picture may never be known, Haq said. Today, Adeel will be taken to hospital for a check-up to assess trauma, and also to the police station to close the missing person report. There are no external injuries, and he has been fed and cleaned. But Haq said the days ahead would indicate the toll this last week must have taken on the nerves of his son

Haq expressed his gratitude to the media and said he does not know how else his third offspring would have been traced
