Malaysia's Tourism Industry Generates 12% of Malaysia's GDP


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Malaysia's Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Aziz reiterated that the government cannot afford to neglect the tourism industry as it generates 12% of Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) and employs more than 16% of its total work force.



The Malaysian Minister said the industry was an important and integral part of the Malaysian economy and was the nation's second largest foreign exchange earner.



He said 28 million foreign tourists were expected to visit Malaysia during the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and spend RM76 billion
