Saudi - Impostor arrested for robbing expats

(MENAFN - Arab News) Hail police have arrested a Saudi man who robbed expatriate workers of SR12,000 while posing as a municipal official

The arrested suspect, who is in his 50s, is an employee at Hail University. He acted as an official of the environmental health department at the Hail Municipality. He extorted money from expatriate workers at tea and coffee shops by claiming they violated municipal health regulations, Col. Abdul Aziz Al-Zenaidi, spokesman of Hail police, told Arab News on Monday

Al-Zenaidi said the man posed as a municipal employee for two days, took money from expatriate workers as "fines for various violations," led them to the third floor of the municipal office and then disappeared

Police detectives launched an investigation after several expatriate workers complained that a suspicious-looking municipal or labor officer took their money and iqamas, he said
