Relative alleges foul play in expatriate's death in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A relative of the Indian found dead with his throat slit in Barka on December 30 has alleged foul play, and has sought help of the Indian Embassy.

''I have approached the Indian Embassy to request the ROP to investigate it as a murder case.

The body has been kept in Rustaq Hospital and a post-mortem examination will be conducted, before sending it to Kerala in India,'' said Prasad Kalkuzhi, a close family member of the victim, Anil Kumar Gurunadhathody.

Kalkuzhi said that according to eyewitness accounts, the door of Anil's room was open before police arrived at the scene. ''But when policemen arrived they found the door closed. Anil had no family problems and I see no reason that could have led him to commit suicide. The wound on his throat was very deep.''

A senior official from the embassy confirmed having received a letter from Prasad and have forwarded it to the ROP.
