A tragic accident led to the death of a young Emirati boy, and injured his mother and two brothers travelling in the same car. The car was being driven by the mother. A senior officer at the RAK Police said the three-year-old boy succumbed to the injuries he received. Lt-Col Ahmed Al Naqbi, Acting Director of the RAK Traffic and Patrols Department, attributed the tragic accident to a callous motorist who turned a blind eye to traffic rules and regulations. "The errant driver, a 23-year-old Emirati motorist, entered the road from a side road without checking if everything was clear and the 42-year-old mother could not prevent the collision." The mother lost control over the wheel due to the collision, and the car which veered off the road, and overturned several times, he added. The child, who sustained very serious injuries, could not make it despite being rushed to the nearest hospital. He was declared dead upon arrival. "All motorists should be responsible enough on the road and abide by traffic rules, particularly when entering from a side street to the main road to avoid fatal accidents," Lt-Col Al Naqbi said. Meanwhile, the RAK traffic police have deployed 35 patrols to ensure safe traffic flow around schools after the schools reopened on Sunday. Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed, Director General of the Central Operations Department, RAK Police, said all entrances and exits of schools have been secured for the protection of the children.
