Omani film to be screened at MIFF

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Salim Bahwan-directed Once In A Life Time will be the first Omani feature film to be screened at the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) in March.

It was recently screened at the City Cinema in Salalah. The screening was attended by more than 250 guests from the cine world and ministries along with the cast and crew members of the film.

Produced, written and directed by Omani filmmaker and actor Salim Bahwan, the movie is a love story of a young man from Muscat and a woman from the hills of Dhofar.

This is the third film which Bahwan has produced and directed. His first film Search for the Impossible deals with the problem of drugs in the country.

Bahwan said, ''I got a good feedback from those who were present at the screening. I have directed the movie but I make a guest appearance, too.

''The one-hour and 20-minute film is the first one in Oman to include Jebali language in about 80 per cent of its script. It's a wonderful language and it was a real challenge to bring it on the silver screen.''

Bahwan said that apart from the story, the music and songs are standout elements of this film.

''Every tradition in the hills of Oman is accompanied by songs. People here are always happy and sing songs – be it at births, deaths, marriages, while cooking, working, or even while herding goats.

''This film has several songs which vividly capture the tradition of hills.''

The film showcases various dresses worn by Omanis and explores the beauty of Dhofar's mountains. A crew of 17 technicians were hired from India for the pre and post-production work.

The film is expected to hit the theatres by April-e
