(MENAFN - Arab Times) The security authorities are reportedly scrutinizing 12,000 entry visas because of suspicions surrounding their issue, reports Al-Rai daily quoting high-level security sources. The same sources told the daily this is done against the backdrop of scandal in the Interior Ministry involving what the ministry sources said the work of a 'mastermind' following which the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid had ordered the formation of an inquiry commission and forced the concerned official into retirement.

The sources pointed out another committee has been formed to investigate and interrogate some senior officials in the Directorate-General of Immigration citing negligence of duty and not following up the transactions particularly since issues such as these has given the ministry lot of headaches. The daily added thousands of residents are expected to be the victims who have nothing to do with the issue because the transactions were official, and bear the seal but were passed without being scrutinized by the administration and even though the transactions are huge it was possible to check them by the respective officials.

The sources added the investigations will include a number of officials of the General Immigration Department who completed the transaction to verify the connection with the suspicious process. Meanwhile, instructions have been issued to Labor Departments in all governorates to make preparations Sunday to organize the workload in two shifts in some sections particularly those departments which are dealing with residence renewal and transfer and cancellation of work permits following long holidays of the past week, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources.

Meanwhile, the sources added teams have been assigned to inspect commercial facilities and companies based on new updated work plan to check on employees. The daily added, the inspectors would be provided with documents related to the number of workers in each company file. The sources also affirmed the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will not neglect or ignore any violations when it comes to protecting the rights of either the employers or the employees.
