UAE- Shaikh Khalifa a role model, says Shaikh Mohammed


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) On the eighth anniversary of his own leadership, the Ruler of Dubai has thanked the people of the UAE for recognising the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the ThankYou_Khalifa campaign over Twitter. Shaikh Mohammed said the flood of posts on social media celebrated the devotion to this "beloved homeland" and set an example of the strong bond between the people and their leadership. "Such genuine bond between the leadership and people is a blessing from God," he wrote on Twitter. He also praised Shaikh Khalifa and explained the reasons why he was worthy of being recognised. "Khalifa bin Zayed is a true role model in leadership. The people of the UAE hold him dear in their hearts...God willing, our beloved homeland will remain an oasis of peace, prosperity and giving," he wrote. The International Humanitarian City Twitter account was one of many to acknowledge the President, saying: "A big thank you to HH Sheikh Khalifa #ThankYouKhalifa from all UN & int'l humanitarian orgs at IHC @HHShkMohd," along with a photo of a large number of workers waving. @Dubaitrvlguide wrote with hopes of the future. "#thankyou_khalifa: We salutes HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We pray that the #UAE continues to progress under your wise leadership". Zubair Atchha summed up the sentiments of many with: "#Thankyou_Khalifa for making UAE an amazing nation!" while Sohail Hanif wrote a message to one and all: "#Thankyou_Khalifa I would like to wish you and all UAE residents a very happy and prosperous Year 2014!" In recent years, Shaikh Mohammed has dedicated his Accession Day every January 4 to thanking a group or person worthy of appreciation. Last year, he honoured workers in the country. The hashtag 'Thankyou_Khalifa' trended at the top of the Arabic Twitter charts by December 31, with hundreds of people tweeting their own messages of thanks in both English and Arabic, and uploading photographs on Twitter and photo-sharing social media site Instagram.
