Kuwait- MoI ordered to refund KD 7,900 pay edu expenses of officer's kids

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Civil Commercial Division of the Court of First Instance presided over by Judge Bader Al-Rukaibi ordered the Minister and Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior to pay the educational expenses of the children of a retired officer of rank 'Brigadier' at the ministry, who later served at Embassy of Kuwait in Oman. The court also ordered the ministry to refund KD 7,900 that the officer paid, while the expenses should cover the secondary stage education of the children. Counsel to the retired officer Lawyer Ali Al-Wawan said his client is a senior retired Kuwaiti officer of the rank 'Brigadier', who was later appointed into the Kuwaiti Mission in Oman. He went to Oman with his children and enrolled them in a school there. However, he was surprised when the government refused to pay the children's school fees, which he then paid during the 2012/2013 academic year. Lawyer Al-Wawan said the government's refusal to pay the school fees violated decree 245/2005 concerning the financial regulations for Foreign Ministry employees as well as ministerial decision 17/2007 concerning study expenses in the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
