(MENAFN - Arab News) Al-Isra International School in Yanbu organized a quiz contest here recently with the participation of students from six schools. Rizwana Awan, academic principal of Al-Isra, organized the event with the support of Abrar Al-Hujaili, the school principal and Nadia Al-Ghamdi, foreign education supervisor.
Addressing the ceremony, Al-Hujaili emphasized the important role of extra curricular activities in enhancing the capabilities of students. "It gives them a chance to participate and show their skills. Thus participation matters more than winning," she added. Al-Hujaili commended all staff members for their contributions to make the event a big success.
Al-Isra students won the first prize in the first competition while Radhwa students were the runners up. In the second contest AlIsra won the top place while Kenz were the runners up.
In the debate category students of Kenz won the first prize while the second prize went to Elite and third to Al-Isra. Al-Tawhid received a consolation prize.
In the second debate Al-Isra emerged as the top winner while Elite and Radhwa received second and third places respectively. "Mothers should stay at home," and "Science is a great threat to humanity" were the topics for debates.
Fatima Al-Rehily, foreign education supervisor, and Al-Ghamdi distributed cups and medals among the winners while all the 70 participants were given gifts as a token of appreciation.
Awan thanked the Qur'an Memorization School and other schools for their support to the cultural event, which was attended by school principals and academic principals of other schools.
