Turkey gold imports up 150 percent in 2013

(MENAFN) Turkey's gold imports hit a new record high in 2013 due to the gold-for-gas trade with Iran and the slump of gold prices during the year, Xinhua reported. Data from Borsa Istanbul show that imports increased 150 percent from 2012"s 120.78 tons to hit 302.3 tons of gold in 2013. Turkey imported 31.65 tons of gold in December alone, up 64 percent versus the month before it.
