Expo 2020 expected to add 4.5 percent to GDP


(MENAFN) Hosting the World Expo 2020 in Dubai is expected to add 4.5 percentage points to the gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the country, Arabian Business reported. A report by HSBC shows that the event would potentially draw USD10 billion of private sector spending to cover the costs the event. Another report by Qatar National Bank (QNB) warns of a potential risk of overheating the market and debt increment due to holding big events such as the Expo and FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 in a small period of time.
