Saudi - Eight cafes shuttered

(MENAFN - Arab News) The Jeddah Municipality has ordered the closure of three coffee shops in the Jamia district for violating the ban on smoking in confined places. The municipality confiscated 180 water-pipes (shishas) and tobacco. It is now working on cutting off power supply to the violating shops. The violating coffee shops will be reported to the governorate for punitive action. Two teams from the municipality also ordered the closing down of five coffee-shops for similar reasons in another locality. The teams confiscated the water-pipes, tobacco and even the chairs and tables in this case. Meanwhile, municipal inspection teams in Briman shut down a warehouse in a residential area which was built contrary to municipality requirements. In addition, it was operating without a license and 15 workers were without health certificates.
