(MENAFN - Arab News) Police have arrested a gunman who attempted to attack MBC radio presenter Ghada Al-Ali. The armed man evaded security officials at the entrance of the MBC building in Riyadh at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A security source said that the gunman, reportedly suffering psycological disorders, took advantage of the traffic at the gate and entered the building unnoticed. The man asked for Al-Ali, who was recording her show at the studio, unaware of the incident.
The source said that employees, seeing the troubled state of the man, intentionally misled him about the whereabouts of Al-Ali.
On seeing security personnel approaching, the gunman ran to the top of the building, threatening to jump from the roof. "I'm sick and tired. Don't blame me," he shouted as he was pursued.
Half an hour of negotiations convinced the man to surrender peacefully. Eyewitnesses said the man was angry because Al-Ali had not responded to his Twitter messages.
The man's action finally attracted Al-Ali's attention. She tweeted: "Could a reason like this lead to murder?" At the time of the attack, Al-Ali was discussing the topic of revenge during her show.
