(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will lend Belarus as much as USD2 billion in 2014, according to Gulf Daily News.
Belarus was forced to devalue its rouble by 65 percent against the dollar two years ago to handle the current deficit.
Putin said: "The Russian government has decided to help our colleagues, in connection with what is happening with the global markets, and provide Belarus with additional loans of up to $2bn."
