(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid issued a decision to end the suffering of a Nepali woman who spent about three months in the jail of Taima Police Station with her newborn baby.
Earlier, Al- Seyassah daily had published an article on the miserable circumstances of the Nepali woman, who was working as a housemaid and was arrested three months ago for illegal pregnancy. She was detained in Taima Police Station with her newborn baby for three months and a travel ban was placed on her. Even though security authorities tried to refer her to other authorities for legal procedures against her, they refused to take over the case.
After reading the article, the Deputy Premier decided to intervene in the matter on a humanitarian basis and instructed the concerned authorities to take necessary action and lift the travel ban issued against her.
Security sources revealed that the Director General of Investigation Department Lt General Yousef Al-Saudi lifted the travel ban on the victim on the basis that the father of her child left the country. They revealed that necessary legal procedures including her deportation are ongoing.
