(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A three-day seminar on ‘Social policies in the Framework of Economic Surge' began at Shangri-La's Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa on Monday.

The recommendations made at this seminar will be published in the form of a document and incorporated into sultanate's social policies for 2016-20.

While addressing the media on sidelines of the seminar, Sultan Salim al Habsi, secretary general at the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) said that these policies will also be included in Oman's vision of 2040.

''The document on social policies will be published in April 2014 and it will be prepared keeping Oman's economic policies in mind.

Habsi said that concerned government bodies will implement the recommendations as the role of the general secretariat of SCP is a supervisory one.

At the opening ceremony, a short film on a survey carried out among 6,000 youths in June and July to get their views on the subject was also screened.

Dr Khalifa Abdullah al Barwani, chief executive officer of the National Center for Statistics and Information said that the survey was carried out among youths aged between 18 and 30 years.

''University students were interviewed via e-mails, while job seekers and other respondents spoke over phone. Six panel discussions were also held with a number of job seekers and employees in North Batinah, Muscat and Dhofar,'' Dr Barwani said.
