Saudi- Cannabis smugglers nabbed

(MENAFN - Arab News) The Border Guard Command in Jazan apprehended three drug traffickers in possession of 270 slabs of cannabis after they crossed into Saudi territorial waters aboard a boat from Yemen. Brig. Gen. Abdullah Bin Mahfouz, spokesman for Jazan Border Guard, said that the border patrols in Beesh sector spotted a boat coming from Yemen into Saudi territory. "We ordered them to stop, but they refused. So we fired warning shots. In the end we overcame them and seized their boat which contained 270 slabs of cannabis," he said. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of the Border Guard said that its patrols apprehended 6,233 traffickers involved in 11,348 smuggling cases and arrested 344,162 infiltrators. There were also some 18,193 infiltration cases. A total of 28,314 kilograms of cannabis were seized during the year.
