(MENAFN- Arab Times) Two Asian construction workers lost their lives when sand wall collapsed on them at the Heritage Palace "Khaz'al Palace" near the British Embassy in Sharq during renovation work. Officers at the Operations Room dispatched personnel from the Technical Rescue Center and Capital Fire Station to the scene, accompanied by security operatives and paramedics. The officers started searching for the victims in the rubble of the fallen walls, and managed to retrieve the first victim who died 30 minutes later. However, the second victim was already dead before the rescue team could reach him. The remains were referred to Forensics for autopsy. A source said the ancient wall is about five meters high and the building is a vintage heritage belonging to the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters. The police have since registered a case for investigation. Among the senior officers present at the scene were Acting Director General of Fire Service Brigadier Khaled Al- Mekrad, Minister of Information Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, and Director of Public Relations at the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate.
