Zimbabwean diamonds sale in Europe brings USD10.5m


(MENAFN) Zimbabwe's diamonds" first sale in Europe brought USD10.5 million, giving hope that the European market will help improve the country"s diamond industry, Xinhua reported. Sanctions were placed over the past three years, as the Zimbabwean government was accused of allegedly violating human rights in diamond mining operations. A senior Mines and Minerals Development Ministry official said the government will collect 15 percent royalty fees to be paid by the selling companies.
