(MENAFN - Arab News) The volume of the industrial output in the Kingdom amounted to SR279.5 billion in 2012 and realized a growth rate of 10.9 percent compared to figures of last year, local media said quoting an Eastern Province-based report.
The number of workers in the industrial sector reached 768,000 by the end of 1433, of which 18 percent are working in non-metallic mineral industries, 15 percent in food industries, and 12 percent in metal formation. The three areas have a combined 45 percent of the whole industrial manpower, the report, prepared by the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EPCCI) Information Center, said.
On the number of factories, the report said it reached 5,991 plants by the end 1433 of which 18 percent (or 1,090) were engaged in non-metallic products, 14 percent (or 818) in metal formation, 12 percent (or 737) in plastic products. The three industries captured 44 percent of the total number of factories in the Kingdom, the report said.
