(MENAFN - Arab News) The Saudi stock market continued its positive movement, marking another gain of 0.34 percent Wednesday.
The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) jumped (40 points) into the green territory earlier Wednesday and spending almost entire session in the same region closed higher to 8,440.53 points, up nearly 28 points from its previous close.
On a year-to-date basis, the index crossed a positive return of 24 percent. All market cap indices ended in the safe area.
Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory, accumulating an aggregate of 434.4 points.
Agriculture & Food Industries sector with an upward jump of 218 points or 2.43 percent remained prominent among sectoral indices, closing the day at 9,195.66.
Insurance sector was another significant gainer, advancing more than one pecent.
Media and Publishing sector, on the other hand, posted the largest losses, turning down by 1.57 percent.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by a margin of 94 to 36 and the prices of 28 companies remained unchanged.
Insurance stocks topped the performance chart at Tadawul, with Buruj Cooperative Insurance surging by 9.98 percent, Gulf General Insurance 9.93 percent, Alalamiya Insurance 9.90 percent and ANB Insurance 9.73 percent.
Trading volume was led by Alinma Bank, which liquidated twenty million shares, a relative market share of 9.2 percent. Amana Cooperative Insurance topped the value chart, pumping more liquidity (SR394 million) into the market.
Roughly 217 million shares worth SR6.2 billion were poured into the market. Tadawul overall turnover remained above the 50-day average level.
