Kuwait - Nepali Mother, Baby Await Their Fate Behind Bars

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) In another touching incident, a baby is behind bars in Taima Police Station with his Nepalese mother who gave birth to the baby out of wedlock three months ago, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Police officers of Taima police station have tried in vain to resolve the situation, as the Ministry of Social Affairs refuses to accept the baby whose father is still unknown. Sources noted the Deportation and Immigration Departments have also declined to take the baby, thus he remains with the mother inside the cell. However, the police officers have dealt with the mother and child with kindness and provided them with food, milk, clothes and medicines, until the case is solved. According to report, the Nepali woman who worked as a housemaid got pregnant illegitimately and gave birth. She has since been detained in more than one police station, among them Sabah Al-Salem and Al-Ahmadi police stations, pending investigations to identify the father of the baby. Finally, she was brought to Taima police station as the concerned authority has yet to discover the father. The officers are urging the Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khalid to intervene to solve the problem of the housemaid and her illegitimate child soon.
