UK inflation eases to 2.1 percent


(MENAFN) The consumer prices index (CPI) in the UK fell to 2.1 percent last month from 2.7 percent in October, Xinhua reported. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that the inflation dropped due slower increases in prices of food and energy, which comprise half of the CPI inflation. An economist with Capital Economics said: "Admittedly, this was because, as we warned, the ONS recorded prices before the first utility price hikes took effect in November."
