(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Mansoor A.K., managing director of Al Bayan Group, the holding company of Nas International (the organisation behind ChicKing), said the brand would soon make its debut in Malaysia as part of an aggressive global expansion drive.

Nas International and Dual Superfood, the master franchise in Malaysia, signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday. Hasan bin Malek, Malaysian Minister for the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, was present at the signing ceremony. Mansoor, who is also the founder of ChicKing, said the event marked a major milestone in the history of the brand.

Mansoor said the partnership was in the making for quite some time and now it was ready to take off.

"This relationship will provide us with a platform to take ChicKing to the next level of growth and enable us to kick off our aggressive global franchise campaign."

He said ChicKing shared a common vision with Malaysia and Dubai. Today marks the first step in our Endeavour to take ChicKing to over 20 countries in five continents and open more than 1,000 outlets by 2020."

ChicKing, which was established in 2000 in Dubai, has made its presence felt in India and Oman as well, and currently operates about 100 outlets in seven markets.

Fariq Halim, CEO of Nas International said that the appointment of the Malaysian master franchisee could not have come at a more critical time in ChicKing's development.

"We believe that Dual Superfoods, together with the support of PNS and the Malaysian ministry, will be able to outperform expectations and develop ChicKing into a leading quick-service restaurant not only in Malaysia but also across the South East Asia region," said Halim.

"With this strategic partnership, we also take a monumental step forward in ChicKing's global expansion plan and goal to become the leading and largest global Halal quick-service restaurant in the world by the year 2020," he said.

Minister Hasan pointed out that in a relatively short time, ChicKing has become a well-known brand with nearly 100 outlets in Asia and Africa.

"I believe that Chicking has set for itself a goal to have more than 1,000 outlets by 2020 to become the world's biggest Halal quick service restaurant. This is not beyond the reach of the Chicking team given the fact that Mansoor is leading from the front."

The minister said Malaysia's target is to become a developed nation by the year 2020. "This provides ample scope for ChicKing to realise this dream. This is considering the undisputed facts that Malaysia is a strong consumer market with a franchise-friendly government policy as well as a safe and secure business environment. I also take great pride in stating that Malaysia is also the leader in halal industry, with numerous facilities.

This would be a strong advantage for ChicKing in its drive to become the largest Halal quick-service restaurant in the world," said Hasan.
