Qatar Tourism Authority Kicks Off Qatar National Day Celebration


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) In celebration of Qatar National Day and in recognition of the dedication and hard work of its employees, Qatar tourism Authority (QTA) has inaugurated a traditional tent to host for staff and the general public. The tent, located in front of Doha Exhibitions Center will feature a range of entertainment inspired by Qatar's culture and heritage from 9:00am until 9:00pm on 16th and 17th December Admission to the tent will be free of charge which will include a traditional coffee shop, handicrafts, and Qatar's iconic falcons Speaking on behalf of HE QTA's Chairman Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Head of Human Resources Department Omar Al Jaber addressed the attendees and welcomed their participation In his speech he shed light on the significance of National Day and said: "Qatar National Day is a special occasion on which QTA has lined up a schedule of events and activities Marking the National Day comes as an expression of our loyalty and belonging to our land and leadership These events are a result of months of hard work and dedication and we have taken this opportunity and launched this initiative as a gesture of appreciation for our staff's devotion." Students from Saud bin Abdulrahman Elementary School took part in the celebration with a set of traditional shows including a military parade and performed national songs and performances in addition to the traditional Ardha Qatar Riders team participated in the event through a motorbike rally which ended in Doha Exhibition Center Attendees expressed their happiness to participate and demonstrate their love and pride in the country's National Day The tent is one of many activities QTA is organizing or participating in for Qatar National Day. From the 15th to 19th December, in collaboration with the National Day Organizing Committee, QTA will support a range of activities at the borders, in hotels and along the Corniche. QTA had invited Hotels to fly the Qatari Flag in front of their hotels and distribute Qatari Flags inside their hotels in visible areas to tourists. Hotel staff will wear traditional Qatari national dress or Qatar National Day pins for the occasion, and female staff will wear Thoab Al Nashel. White and burgundy balloons will also be displayed in hotel entrances and reception areas and traditional Qatari food and dishes will be put on main course menus for the day. QTA is also staging a National Day competition for the best decorated hotel front. This competition will put the spotlight on Qatar's iconic building designs and contemporary architecture. The Abu Samra Border Post will be decorated by QTA with patriotic motifs and volunteers will be appointed to distribute Qatari flags, pins and promotional items to guests entering Qatar at the post. Volunteers representing QTA will be waiting for visitors with gifts and flags as well as our warm Arabian hospitality. QTA want tourists to appreciate Qatar's heritage at its finest and make it a proud occasion for all who live and work in Qatar. At Doha International Airport QTA is planning a special tourism booth in the Arrivals terminal where volunteers will give away national flags, National Day pins, maps and other promotional items to everyone arriving in Doha on the day. A traditional Qatari tent will offer Arabic coffee and dates, reflecting the country's hospitality. It is worth mentioning that on Sunday, QTA announced the winner of the first phase of "MyQatar" initiative and launched the second phase. QTA encourages the public to participate in the second phase by sharing their ideas on "MyQatar" billboard located next to Al Murjan restaurant on the Corniche in Doha. Doha bus, sponsored by QTA, will be providing shuttle services during national day celebrations between Corniche stations: Qatar's Past Station - Al Bidda Promontory, Modern Qatar Station - Ory Jetty and Qatar's Future Station - Sheraton Park, in addition to Darb Al-Sai Station.
