(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) H E Eng Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry, has issued a Ministerial Decision on the formation of a committee for supervising the next elections of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
The committee will be headed by H E Eng Ahmad bin Hassan al Dheeb, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI).
The decision, which comes as per Royal Decree 95/2013, amends certain provisions of the OCCI law, including those pertaining to the election of chairman and the board of directors for OCCI as well as its branches in all governorates.
According to the decision, OCCI members will be called to the headquarters or the chamber's branches to cast their vote.
A preliminary list of voters shall be prepared by the committee.
‘Written objections on the lists of voters shall be allowed within three days of advertising them, through an application form submitted to concerned parties, who shall judge them. Decision taken in this regard shall be absolute.
‘After looking at all objections, final lists of voters shall be prepared,' the decision says.
The names of nominees shall be advertised via any mass media, the decision states.
It also states that the voting process shall end as scheduled and heads and members of electoral sub-committees shall count the votes in the presence of nominees who want to be present and their legal proxies.
The sub-committees shall rank nominees in a descending order as per the numbers of votes they obtain.
‘In case two or more nominees have obtained equal votes, a draw shall be held in the presence of nominees and their legal proxies.
A report regarding this shall be prepared,' the decision says.
The sub-committees shall refer the results of the election to the committee on the following day to approve and announce them
