(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has issued orders suspending operations of two companies that flouted its guidelines.

A plastic waste recycling company with operations in Buraimi was ordered shut for one month for not complying with environmental guidelines laid down by the ministry. A press release stated that the suspension will be extended by another month if the company fails to take steps and make necessary amends.

The period of suspension will be extended by another month if the violation continues, the release said. MECA plans to intensify its campaigns on environmental control and monitor operations of companies and establishments.

The drives are in accordance with statutes of the Environmental Protection Law, issued by the Royal Decree No 114/2001, the release added.
