Omani Youth Day on October 26 every year

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) With the Royal Patronage of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, October 26 will be celebrated as Omani Youth Day every year.

The National Youth Commission (NYC) has hailed the Royal Initiative, which symbolises His Majesty the Sultan's wise vision, honour and care for the youth. It also reflects the important role youths play in nation-building, it added.

Dr Hamad bin Hamoud al Ghafri, chairman, NYC, said the commission will continue to carry out its obligations diligently.

He said dedicating a day for Omani youth was a Royal Blessing to the youth and all organisations working for their cause.

NYC has conducted many surveys to identify youth aspirations. These surveys revealed that job seekers needed to develop their vocational skills and that considerations of both sexes should be kept in mind while nominating them for jobs. These aspects were raised before concerned agencies as outlined in the Royal Decree on setting up of NYC.

Fourteen programmes that cover some of the recommendations from the surveys were approved at a recent NYC meeting. These events include a seminar on innovation in December-end. NYC will also participate in the 19th Muscat Book Fair scheduled to be held by the end of February.
