Oman NHRC launches facility for online complaints


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) In a move commemorating the World Human Rights Day which falls on December 10 every year, the sultanate's National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) recently launched an e-complaints section on its Arabic website, at an event at Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton hotel. The system was inaugurated H E Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah bin Ali al Khalili, Minister of Justice, the chief guest at the function. 

A guide book on the new facility was also distributed and a contest of short films and researches on human rights also announced. Dr Rashid al Balushi, NHRC's secretary general said that the e-complaints guide will facilitate in following up of complaints and recording human rights violations. The main sections of the system include introduction to human rights, NHRC's mission, complaint registering, follow-up on complaints and  withdrawing complaints.

Majda Shaikhan al Mamari, head of NHRC's media and awareness committee, announced the contest. The deadline for submitting entries has been set as August 26, 2014. ''More details on the contest will be announced this week and posted on our Arabic website,'' she said. The e-complaints facility on NHRC's English website will be available by month-end.
