AKF ties up with WFP, Dar al Atta'a for Oman initiatives


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Al Khan Foods (AKF) announced launching its corporate social responsibility programme, ‘Fight Against Hunger', in conjunction with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and partnering locally with Dar al Atta'a, recently.

Viresh Kothari, managing director, AKF said, ''It is truly a great moment for us to associate with WFP because the critical issue of global hunger is a topic very close to AKF's heart. By ensuring easy access to dietary education and awareness, and helping to support those in need, we plan to focus heavily on expanding individual programmes and establishing innovative ways in the global fight against hunger.''

Elise Bijon, WFP private partnerships & business development manager for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, had flown to Muscat for the launch. ''This is our first collaboration with the private sector in Oman. We are grateful to AKF and its local partners for assisting our future work in the Middle East while giving us a valuable opportunity to raise awareness in Oman about the issue of world hunger and engaging more corporations in our efforts to eradicate it.''

May al Bayat, marketing director of Dar al Atta'a said, ''The WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide and it gives us great pleasure to be associated with the programme spearheaded by AKF. Through our expansive network and experience with helping the community in Oman, we hope to put their vision to good effect
