ISWK student to represent Oman at Dubai Scrabble contest


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Fifteen year old Jhanavi Ananthakumar is representing Oman at the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) in Dubai in the under-18 category. The event, which begins on Thursday, will see the participation of 140 youths from over 20 countries.

Jhanavi's invitation to WYSC came through Judith Britten, who is part of the Scrabble Foundation in Qatar. Jhanavi's Scrabble skills caught Judith's eye at a competition in Oman. ''She suggested Jhanavi's name to the Dubai group and they called us,'' said her mother, Jaya Ananthakumar.

Jhanavi is a class ten student of Indian School Wadi Kabir and has participated in several Scrabble competitions. This is her first international competition. ''WYSC will give her a bigger platform to perform,''Jaya said.

''I am very excited with the international exposure. It is fun to be here. It's an enriching experience,'' Jhanavi said from Dubai.

WYSC, which will be held till December 14, is open to visitors, schools, parents and children. The event also sees the participation of UAE's Navya Zaveri, who
